The Flying Gentleman, Whips and Cyr Wheel with striptease
Cabaret and burlesque live from the art of the tease: a look, a pause, one piece of clothing less. Oscar Kaufmann combines that game with circus skill. Three of his acts come in a late-night version, with striptease, humour and a lot of closeness to the audience. They suit burlesque and cabaret shows, late-night programmes and luxury events that want to offer their guests more than background entertainment.
The Flying Gentleman: striptease on a flying hat stand
A gentleman in a suit walks through the audience to the stage, reaches for his hat stand, and the stand takes off. In the cabaret version the gentleman loses one piece of clothing after another in mid-air, until only shorts and sock garters remain. The humour comes from movement and timing and needs no words. Oscar developed the apparatus himself, and the act exists in this form only once.
Whips: 007 meets burlesque
Pinstripes, a martini, two whips. The act plays with a touch of Bond and a wink. The shirt comes open, the whip cracks in time with the music, and at the end an olive is whipped out of the martini glass without touching the glass. The act premiered on a burlesque stage in Zurich. It runs 4 minutes.
Cyr Wheel: the coat comes off
Oscar stands in a long black coat on a round podium while the wheel circles around him. Then the coat flies, followed by bare-chested acrobatics inside the large metal ring: strength, spin and speed, a few metres from the guests. The act works on very small stages. The smallest one it has been performed on measured 2.40 m in diameter. In a darkened room it is also available as an LED Cyr Wheel, as seen in “Gatsby at the Green Light” at the Sydney Opera House.

Oscar has performed these acts with La Clique in Singapore, Edinburgh and Manchester, in “Gatsby at the Green Light” at the Sydney Opera House, with Cirque BonBon in Australia and at Wintergarten Varieté Berlin, among others. The platform Klook wrote of an “elegant yet steamy aerial choreography”.
